Drug ring shut down

POLICE say they have smashed a well-organised drug ring in Melbourne. Eight people were arrested in raids yesterday as part of a six-month investigation into a cannabis-trafficking ring.Police raided 15 properties at Tecoma, Frankston, Skye, Greensborough, Eltham and Ferny Creek.More than 1500 plants believed to be cannabis were seized along with cash, cars and earth-moving equipment.Senior Sergeant George Vale of the Fawkner Divisional Response Unit said: "We believe that this operation has shut down a major cannabis syndicate."
